Eva, you have been in the public eye for over 25 years: you have worked internationally as a model, were the face of Berlin Fashion Week, you work as a presenter and singer/songwriter. What importance does fashion have in your eventful life?
For me, fashion is a motor in my private life that allows me to experience myself and my environment consciously. As a mother of a 5-year-old, I have certainly had my absolute worst fashion-wise in recent years. There were days when I just kept wearing the same comfortable sweatpants and the most shapeless, cozy sweater possible... sometimes for several days in a row. And I think that's completely legitimate. I fully understand when you don't feel like paying attention to what you're wearing and it just has to be practical. But this moment when I take time for myself - okay: time for myself and my wardrobe - is just good. Getting up in the morning and following the inspiration to choose something today that will help me face the world is definitely self-care. Fashion can change my mood, take me to places, feel luxurious on my skin. It has great power and I'm always happy to use it.
You have found your adopted home in the Uckermark region with your husband and your little daughter. What is special about this place where we were able to visit you and photograph you for our joint shoot?
For us, the Uckermark is the ultimate retreat. There is a lot of nature here and very few people. That fascinated us from the beginning. It was also important to us that our daughter grew up in the countryside, close to nature. When we go to one of the many lakes in the summer, we never have to worry about where there is still space available. You are always more alone here.
LANIUS has stood for fair fashion with a strong stance for 25 years. How did you find access to the topic of sustainable fashion and what relevance does it have for you?
The topic of sustainability in fashion has been with me for many years. When you work in this industry, it is impossible to avoid the topic. My first conscious experience with a German fashion company that works under sustainable conditions was a collaboration with Armedangels. In general, I want my clothes to be durable, well made and made from high-quality, uncontaminated materials. I have adapted my own consumption more and more in recent years. I buy less, but more proactively and hopefully more sustainably than I did 5 years ago. My wardrobe is more manageable, if only because it makes my life so much easier.
In your Instagram bio you describe yourself as a "chameleon". We already have an idea what you mean by that, but tell us...
For a while, I was referred to as a chameleon in relation to my profession as a model. I was always very versatile and always enjoyed slipping into different roles. This actually applies to many other aspects of my life. Apart from modeling, I have been working creatively with my husband for 20 years on our joint music project, where I mainly write the lyrics and sing. I have no problem switching between red carpets in high heels and country life in rubber boots. On the contrary, I love these contrasts.
And what do you like to cook most when you are working as a “Chef de Cuisine”?
Nowadays, I prefer fresh, vegetarian dishes. I find vegetable cooking much more varied. The best thing is of course to go out into the garden in summer, collect a few fresh ingredients and conjure up a delicious meal. If I were to ask our daughter what mom should cook, her answer would of course be pasta without anything. Which I have absolutely perfected in recent years. ;)
What connects you with LANIUS?
I have known and worn the LANIUS brand for several years now. The focus on high-quality, sustainable fashion meets the personal standards I have for my own clothing.
And according to which criteria did you select the individual styles of your capsule collection from the LANIUS ESSENTIALS and put together the looks?
It was important to me that all the pieces could be combined with each other so that they could be a suitable outfit for every occasion. With these basics in your wardrobe, nothing can go wrong.
